1. Portland, Oregon - Members of the U.S.A.F. (United States Armed Forces) finally have an exciting alternative when it comes to furthering their education throughout and following their service. The Australasian College of Health Sciences (ACHS), is the ONLY private career school to offer distance education programs in complementary therapies. Nationally accredited, ACHS is the first educator in Oregon to be granted military funding for distance education. As such we are paving the way for other universities and career schools alike to offer such benefits to our military personnel.
Graduates of our programs work in a variety of occupations as Holistic Health Practitioners, Master Herbalists, Master Aromatherapists, Nutrition Consultants—as organizers and developers for healthier communities, as worksite health promotion specialists, health educators, and many other health promoting pursuits.
In a recent article from the LA Times-Washington Post, Rob Stein wrote, “A new government survey of more than 31,000 U.S. adults nationwide, the most comprehensive assessment of alternative medicine use in the United States, found that 36 percent are using some kind of “complementary and alternative” therapy.” In a similar study, David Eisenberg of Harvard Medical School in Boston stated, “The findings make it clear that alternative medicine has established itself as an integral part of the U.S. health care system.”
The goal of ACHS is to promote health and well-being to our active military and veterans alike, while providing the highest in educational standards available. We achieve our objectives through a set of values that respects our students, employees, community and environment, always operating with integrity and a commitment to providing excellence in natural health education.
